In your own words, please highlight your beauty experience and expertise.

As the Founder and Executive Chairwoman of Beauty Affair LI, I have created some of the most coveted events in the Long Island beauty realm. I have orchestrated experiences like Beauty Affair Bougie Brunch, a soirée graced by Bravo celebrities, including Sonja Morgan and Melissa Gorga. The crown jewel of my endeavors is the Long Island Beauty Awards, an exclusive formal gala uniting the beauty industry across Long Island. I am getting ready to unveil the Long Island Beauty Expo, an exposition tailored for end clients, promising unique engagement with the beauty world. Beauty Affair LI serves as an informative platform to most and a powerful marketing platform to businesses, uniting professionals and enthusiasts alike, reaffirming my commitment to celebrating the beauty landscape with glamour and community spirit.

Which beauty treatment, product, or service (outside of your business) has had the most impact on your beauty journey?

This is SUCH a hard question for me! I have been very fortunate to experience a huge variety of beauty treatments and procedures. I have my favorites, but they are all on different levels. The Mommy Makeover surgery I did with Dr. Greenberg was by far the BIGGEST with the longest recovery! I am only 8 weeks out (Dec 2023), but it has impacted my mind, body, AND soul in ways I that blow me away!💕 I couldn't live without my injectables with Mena at Boost your Beauty, my hair extensions from Lauren at Lux City Salon, or my SKIN treatments with Sharon and the gang at Permanent Touch Cosmetics!

Sharon Grasso

How many years have you been working in the beauty industry?

30+ years

In your own words, please highlight your beauty experience and expertise.

I have been working in the beauty industry, in-house with plastic surgeons since 1995 I have had the unique opportunity to observe many cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures, and learn the intricacies involved & the relationship between aesthetic laser and light devices & and how they can work with, and enhance the results of surgical cosmetic procedures. In addition, I am a certified instructor and preceptor with a specialty in medical micro pigmentation and cosmetic tattooing, including, but not limited to areola repigmintation post-mastectomy., complete Brow replacement, scar camouflage, and more. As a beauty, expert and consultant, it has become my passion to help guide potential clients/patients through the process and help them to achieve realistic goals and expectations through aesthetic procedures as well as help them to understand complex surgical procedures, and focusing on asking the right questions when consulting with a plastic surgeon if that is the direction that is needed to achieve their overall result

Is there something specific that you hope to achieve or improve on in the beauty industry, by being a Beauty Board member?

My goal is always to shed light on how important it is to understand the procedures and practitioners that you are choosing to achieve a realistic goal and expectation, and to help sort through and maintain the integrity of the aesthetic industry, which I have come to love. Previously being a single mom for many years as I built my business, it has become my mission to maintain the integrity of an industry that I absolutely love.

Jennifer Fasano

What does being part of the Beauty Council mean to you?

I love being a part of the beauty council. I love bringing together people from the beauty -+ wellness space to celebrate the industry, connect in new ways and to learn a nd grow together. I love immersing my clients + the babes community into the space opening new doors and opportunities that far exceed just beauty. Walking in a room and seeing so many people I know and love and trust together truly lights me up. Plus the friendships I’ve made through the council are priceless.

How do you prioritize collaboration over competition within your profession?

It’s literally my mantra. Babes in Business Long Island and Jenn Fasano Consulting are built on the belief that collaboration and connection are far more powerful than competition. We break away from the outdated, cutthroat networking model and instead foster a supportive environment where women lift each other up, share resources, and celebrate one another’s wins. Through our events, mentorship, and strategic consulting, we create opportunities for female entrepreneurs to thrive—whether it’s by connecting them with like-minded women, providing them with valuable business insights, or helping them refine their brand and strategy.  At Babes in Business Long Island, we prove that networking doesn’t have to be stiff or transactional. Our events are about real relationships, meaningful conversations, and empowering women to see that there is space for everyone to succeed. Jenn Fasano Consulting takes this a step further by offering hands-on guidance to help business owners gain clarity, confidence, and strategic direction—ensuring that no woman has to build her dream alone. Together, these platforms cultivate a community where success is shared, support is abundant, and the idea of competition is replaced with collective growth.

How does your expertise outside of beauty contribute to the industry, and what unique perspective do you bring to the Beauty Council?

As a consultant for the Beauty Council, I bring a unique perspective by combining my expertise in business strategy, community building, and female entrepreneurship. I have a proven track record of helping women-led businesses scale and thrive, and I understand the nuances of branding, marketing, and consumer engagement in a way that truly connects with beauty industry professionals. How do you prioritize collaboration over competition within your profession?

I don’t look at anyone as competition there’s enough to go around.

What role do you see yourself playing in elevating and supporting beauty professionals through the council?

I’ve always have been and will be supportive of everybody in my industry. There’s no need not to be supporting other professionals in different areas of beauty has been me for many years well before the council.

What inspired you to enter the beauty, fashion, or wellness industry?

I really do think for me it was getting a lot of bad haircuts growing up, especially from my parents lol with all the bang cuts and then when I actually got into this business of doing hair, I just loved how it felt to help people and make people feel happy with just changing their look even if it’s just as simple as a color or cut or even a style.

Jamie Gale

Mena Abitino PA-C

How long have you been working in the beauty industry?

I have been in the Beauty industry since 1995.  A Physician Associate practicing General and Cosmetic Dermatology since 2003.

In your own words, please highlight your beauty experience and expertise.

My journey in the Cosmetic industry began with the exciting era of Botox's initial FDA approval. At that time, conversations about these procedures were discreet and somewhat taboo. I've witnessed the transformative journey from injecting Botox between eyebrows and dermal filler exclusively in cheeks and lips for a youthful touch. Initially, these procedures were sought after by those reentering the workforce or diving back into the dating scene. Now, the art of injecting neurotoxin and dermal filler allows for natural sculpting, lifting, and rejuvenation, achieving a subtle, unnoticeable enhancement. It's incredibly fulfilling to be part of this transformative process, helping individuals feel and look youthful while embracing overall wellness. Offering a confidence boost and enhancing natural beauty is what I love to do for my patients.

Is there something specific that you hope to achieve or improve on in the beauty industry, by being a Beauty Board member?

In the beauty industry, my goal is to stay at the forefront of innovation by keeping up with the latest technology and trends. Additionally, I aspire to contribute to the growth of our beauty community by actively training and supporting my peers.
